DESCRIPTION:About the Project\n\n\n\nClean California proposes significant investments in litter collection\, community engagement and education to ultimately transform unsightly roadsides into spaces of pride for all Californians. This is truly a statewide effort with potential projects in all 58 counties and with a third of the funds going directly to cities\, counties\, tribes and transit agencies to clean local streets and public spaces.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn our kick off meeting we identified a number of symbols and concepts that are unique to the Deerfield / Mesa Grande neighborhood region. \n\n\n\nFollowing is a brief description of the meeting: \n\n\n\nWelcoming and IntroductionsPurpose and goal of the meeting by Cal Trans Project Manager Robert H. The central piece of Sac Open Studios is a self-guided artist studio tour which spans all of Sacramento County\, West Sacramento and Woodland and takes place annually during the middle two weekends of September. Her work combines paint\, ink\, collaged elements and image transfers. \n\n\n\nThemes explored in her most recent work include feminism\, family\, and humor. Watching her babies grow into kids inspired her previous work on how grit and tenacity builds neurons in the brain and stronger communities. \n\n\n\nHer artwork has graced the covers of Inside Magazine\, beautified bike trails\, and can be seen in solo and group shows throughout Northern California. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @tenaciousgoods \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKate Farrall \n\n\n\nKate Farrall is a fine artist who creates experimental photography that includes making cameraless Polaroids\, exposing photos through the postal system\, and growing bioluminescent organisms fungus to make her images. My influences include classical realism\, pop art\, surrealism\, wildlife illustration\, and sci-fi creature design. \n\n\n\nMy artwork is usually joyful\, playful\, full of color and humor\, and a celebration of nature. \n\n\n\nThere aren’t very many art techniques I haven’t tried\, or animals I don’t think are adorable. Even spiders and wasps. \n\n\n\nMy focus is the intimate life and personality of the living creature. I want viewers to be able to experience the individuality in my subjects’ eyes and postures. My ongoing challenge is to find ways to provoke curiosity and empathy about other kinds of lives. \n\n\n\nI earned a bachelor of arts in studio art (emphasis on drawing and painting) from CSU Sacramento in 1998. I have always loved to play around with color\, although not all of my work reflects this. Most of my work is somewhat abstract. \n\n\n\nI enjoy playing around with non-traditional and digital media as well as photography\, oil and watercolor painting\, and textile art. \n\n\n\nMy biggest influences have been Joseph Cornell\, Rothko\, Matisse\, Magritte\, and the ukiyo-e woodblock prints of Japan. \n\n\n\nI have a Bachelor’s of Art from UC Davis. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @poszart

Sometimes we balance it gracefully\, and sometimes things get weird. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow is the artwork made?\n\n\n\nHeather searches for open source photos online\, preferring portraits of women who are looking directly at the camera. Past the official reopening in California\, we are excited for it to once again be filled with people\, too! The show includes works from members who have been supporting and volunteering for 15 years or longer\, alongside new artists who have just discovered our exhibitions and programs in the last year. It fulfills something at the core of Blue Line Arts’ mission: bringing together the work of established artists while still being a welcoming and uplifting gallery for emerging artists. DESCRIPTION:I’m excited to share that my piece Whirlpool was accepted into the auction for Big Names\, Small Art at the Crocker! \n                                                                    \nThe Crocker Art Museum’s 43rd annual Art Auction season is upon us! Building on the success of last year’s virtual auction\, the upcoming 2021 Art Auction season will feature the same lively events – Art Auction and Big Names\, Small Art (BNSA) – in a new hybrid virtual and in-person format. \nSilent Art Auction and BNSA will be held virtually on the Bidsquare platform\, with bidding scheduled to open in mid-May and auctions set to close the weekend of June 5–6. In addition\, a small selection of artworks will also be featured in a socially distanced Live Art Auction event in the Museum’s courtyard on the evening of Saturday\, June 5. \nAll Silent and Live Art Auction works will be included in a special exhibition at the Crocker\, on view from May 23 – June 6\, 2021.
