Summer of Workshops!

Teaching isn’t just about sharing knowledge—it’s about creating an environment where people feel empowered to build, make, and experiment.

This summer, I led a multi-location public workshop initiative aimed at expanding community art and digital literacy across six regional hubs (including Midtown, Downtown, Natomas, Pocket, Davis, and online). Across 9 weeks, I hosted 9 distinct workshops—educating 212 unique students ranging from working artists to first-time makers.

To make the series successful, I managed end-to-end promotion and digital infrastructure—building standalone landing pages with custom branded graphics, galleries, and clear event copy for each session, while running coordinated email, social media, and direct community outreach.

A quick look back at what we built together this summer:

• Sublimation Collage on Fabric (Prism Art Space & Natomas Farmers Market)
  Guided artists and makers through the intersection of digital design and tactile creation—combining analog layout techniques with heat-press dye sublimation.
• Cut Paper & Portrait Art Collage (Pocket-Greenhaven Library)
  Led adults in exploring composition, color, layering and laser-cut design elements to craft dimensional paper art.
• The Artist Website Intensive and Lecture (Verge & Prism Art Space)
  Mentoring artists step-by-step through building, updating, and optimizing their professional web presence in preparation for Sac Open Studios.
• Printmaking on Fabric (Pence Gallery)
  Led students in carving a block and printing it on paper and fabric.

Whether I’m guiding adult learners through technical software, teaching design thinking in the makerspace, or introducing community members to new physical mediums, training is at the core of my practice. There’s nothing quite like watching a participant go from “I don’t know if I can do this” to walking away with a finished piece and a brand-new skill set.
