Crocker Kingsley Exhibit at Blue Line Arts

My art friends Kate, Linda and I braved the rain yesterday and went to enjoy this eclectic exhibit at Blue Line Arts in Roseville. I do not include artists names in this post, please review the catalog on Blue Line’s website for more info.
Take Aways
- We artists want to know how things are put together and what materials are used. Some pieces used tubes from knob and tube installations, solar plates, copper etching, found objects, yupo paper, cyanotype, and more.
- There were many artists from Nevada City and other small towns in California.
- We learned that a large ceramic piece was driven up and assembled by a studio assistant. It looked to be assembled from many pieces so we were very curious. Shipping is always a tricky process.
- The Crocker Museum selects a few pieces to show in their space and there are juror awards and a people choice award. Its interesting to see which pieces get selected.
- Kate commented on how different the photos can be from the actual work in person. Its hard to judge scale and impact from a photo.
From their website:
For the 82nd edition, juror Grace Kook-Anderson, The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum, selected approximately 80 works from an impressive pool of 2,516 submissions by 643 artists.
These carefully selected works will be displayed at Blue Line Arts in Downtown Roseville from January 11th through February 22nd. The exhibition will culminate in a distinguished presentation at the Crocker Art Museum from March 9th to May 4th, 2025, where approximately six hand-picked works will take center stage.
